Round Dhaulagiri

Dhaulagiri TrekThe journey on foot around Dhaulagiri in Nepal stands as one of the world's classic treks: crossing a jumble of glaciers and two high passes, the circuit combines all that is best in wilderness trekking: stunning views, genuine remoteness and a real sense of adventure. We set off through hillside villages along the Myagdi River, up through cultivated and then forested areas to penetrate the Dhaulagiri Himal. From there we cross the Chonbarban glacier at the head of the Hidden Valley and then, in successive days, the French Pass and the Thapa Pass before descending to meet the Kali Gandaki and the Annapurna Circuit: a trip for the connoisseur.

Days 11-13 :

Dhaulageri Base Camp - Our progress during these strenuous days will depend on conditions but it should allow time for a rest day with some exploration of the side valleys. The route follows a lateral moraine to a rocky ridge and then descends to a valley buried in snow and fallen rocks. Then, after an impressive gorge, we follow an intermittent path to and across the Chhonbarban Glacier from which we emerge to reach Dhaulagiri Base Camp (4,750m). There we enjoy excellent views of the several faces of Dhaulagiri and the vast icefall dropping from the North East col.

We descend the gentle slope into Hidden Valley where it is possible to camp.

Days 15 :
